Anniversary Jewlery
Any kind of jewelry is a welcome and much appreciated gift. No matter what the occasion is: birthday, bat mitzvah, engagement, etc. all occasions call for more diamond necklaces, more silver bracelets, and more gold earrings. If you and your wife’s anniversary is coming up, know that it is the perfect time to enhance her jewelry collection.
Many men, when then they think of buying their wife jewelry, cringe. “Again spend hundreds of dollar, of not more, on a necklace or earrings she’ll wear five times a year?” It is true that many piece of jewelry sit in the jewelry box just for that special occasion she decides to wear them. It is true that much of the jewelry you have bought before, be it another diamond ring or gold hoop earrings, feel like money gone down the drain. While you wife certainly may not feel this way, asserting that she can never have enough jewelry, it is legitimate that you might feel this way.
This year, then, why not try going for something utterly different. Something you have never done before, something that will be unlike any gold or diamond jewelry she has. Something that will not only come from your wallet but also-mostly-from your heart. DIY, or Do IT Yourself jewelry is the perfect anniversary gift, for a number of reasons.
First and foremost, DIY jewelry is usually much cheaper than any other jewelry you might buy at the store or even online. While $500 diamond earrings may be gorgeous, do they, at this point in your marriage, really scream out “I love you and I think about you all the time,” or are they the easy way out, in a way? You wife knows that you don’t have to put too much thought into buying yet another diamond jewelry piece. However, if you actually make her jewelry she will appreciate the thought so much that she will wear it even if she really hates it. And this won’t cost you much!
The first and one of the easiest things you can do is making your wife an anniversary jewelry box. Anniversary jewelry boxes are both beautiful and sentimental. Buy some DIY jewelry items, like beads, pearls (even fake ones will do), tiny diamonds (read-zircons), and other types of similar jewelry. Either write on the box or have it engraved with a special quote from a song that you know she loves, or, even better, a song that you both dance to. Write a special dedication to her that will make her smile every day she opens the jewelry box. Then, let your imagination run wild as you decorate the jewelry box. Come up with crazy and innovative ways to decorate the box with the pearls and zircons you have purchased.
Then, inside the box, put a bracelet that you made all by yourself. This bracelet can be made of anything, including beads. Making dangling bead bracelets is quite easy, and they are fun, cute and very cool. Sure, you wife may not be able to wear it to a fancy party or wedding, but they will be very appropriate for daily use, and, more importantly, she will proudly say that her husband made it for her as an anniversary jewelry.
If you are unsure how to even approach making DIY jewelry (and chances are you are), don’t be discouraged. In this day and age there are many websites and video clips that guide you, step by step, in the process of making some truly gorgeous jewelry. These sites and clips are detailed, they tell you exactly what you need to buy and how much, and they show you what the final outcome will look like, so you can decide whether you even want to make the specific jewel or not.
If you’ve never done this before, there is a good chance that your DIY jewelry and jewelry box will be less than stellar, or, to be exactly, absolutely abysmal. However, this will not matter once your wife sees just how much effort and thought you put in the matter. The only thing this might cost you is a little bit of time, but after spending so many years with your wife as a married couple, who’s counting the time?
